Fool Your Friends with Fake Headlines
Want to fool your friends and make them think you or they have been highlighted somehow in a news story? Or maybe make them think people that share their name are doing some really weird or stupid things?
Check out the I Got News For You site. You can enter some quick information about yourself and your friend and send them an e-mail with a link to your custom spoofed newspaper frontpage. Or, you can have the page blown up and sent to them poster size if you want to pay for it. I’ve included a screen shot of my spoofed page for my friend.
The site is pretty entertaining and humorous. I’m not sure about the copyright issues that might be involved, but I think the resulting page is a little too easily identified as a spoof. What would be really interesting is if they could grab screen shots of real paper’s front pages or main header graphics for the location you choose and then insert a news story here or there. I think this combined with the ability to upload a photo of your friend for them to insert into the headline story would be what pushes this to exceptional.

Hello Jason,
Thanks for posting about IGotNewsForYou. I’m glad you liked it!
Your suggestion about uploading images is a great one — we fully intend to do that in the near future.
Taking screenshots of real papers and being able to spoof those more realistically…interesting idea, but hhhm…tricky, something I’ll have to mull over!
Thanks again for taking the time.
