I just uncovered exactly what I was looking for just now. Some family members sent me an e-mail link and asked me why the site wasn’t working. The domain name is pohmnenazvanie.com, not your normal looking domain name so it raised my own suspicions.
What I was looking for was a site that would let me put the domain name into a search box and return the potential risk of the domain and website. Is it known for phishing, or spyware or other malicious activity. With the example above the site was known for promoting itself via spam. Not the worst of activities, but enough to make me delete it and never visit the site or recommend anyone else do the same.
McAfee SiteAdvisor gave me just enough information to verify my initial gut-feeling and make the right decision.
The intrigue of the site above was being able to download Adobe Photoshop for $900 off retail. Sounds to good to be true right? RIGHT! If you’re looking for cheap software or can’t afford a legitimate copy, then look for other options. Finding an older version of a piece of software on eBay is another way to uncover a great deal.
