MyHomePoint - a Family Calendar
I have three kids who are about to be launched into the Spring Sports Season; which, for those of you who have kids who do sports, you know that this is going to be about four months of unrelenting running around mandatory HAVE FUN DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I PAID FOR THIS YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL GET IN THE CAR NOW kind of stuff.
And to that end, I was idly browsing on the Web this morning avoiding my dirty house (if I don’t look at it, it doesn’t really exist, kwim?) and found this - MyHomePoint, a web-based calendar solution for the entire family. More from the site:
“There are lots of web-based calendar solutions, but almost all are geared toward the individual user. Why should every household member have to register on a website, sign up for an account, then manually share that account to other family members before you have even the most basic workable family calendar? Now they don’t have to.
With MyHomePoint, you create one account for your entire family, add your family members to your account, and then everyone can immediately begin using all of the site’s features.”
I plan on using this ASAP because - guess what - it’s free. And I love me some free stuff, especially when I can use it to simplify my family life. Check it out and let me know what you think.
NOTE: I should have noted that currently MyHomePoint is in beta; I’m (hopefully) going to get more of a sneak peek at it soon, but they do have a great walk-through on the site that just leaves you salivatin’ for more.

Wow! This looks like a great site to use. Are you already testing it? Right now it’s still in beta and there’s not an open sign-up option.

Wendy,
Your “HAVE FUN…” quote was hilarious and so true. I also have three kids and can totally relate even though my oldest is only in 2nd grade.
Thanks for the kind words for MyHomePoint. As mentioned in the text you quoted, it was built specifically for families. Every year since we had our first child, I would make another attempt at extending Yahoo! or Hotmail Calendar to work for my wife and I, but it just never worked. So, like any good developer, we (Brian and I) decided to build our own family-centric calendar/organizer.
We’ve still got a lot to do but believe that it works well enough to open it up for a wider audience. To that end, if anyone wants to try it out, visit the site and look for a link to send us email and we will send you an invite. Although, within a week or two, we will probably remove the invitation requirement and open up the registration.
One last note: While we are currently free, at some point in time, we plan to try to make some money from the site, be it ads or subscriptions. Don’t worry though, early adopters will be given special consideration when that time comes.
Please stop by the forums on our site to give us any feedback you might have. We really want to make it the best family calendar/organizer out there.
Thanks,
Matt
